About our weekly meetings

Our weekly meetings are an opportunity for members to meet other job seekers and career changers, exchange news and recommendations and hear an informative presentation on an aspect of the job seeking process.

Dress Code

There are no strict rules. We recommend that members attend dressed for a business meeting and recognise that this will mean different dress standards depending on the industry they work in.

Every meeting follows a standard agenda, starting at 10am.

  1. Welcome by the Chairman
  2. News and information about the Club
  3. Speaker
Typically he/she will talk for around 1hr 20m including questions
  4. Round Robin
An opportunity for members to practise introducing themselves to the group (the “elevator pitch”) or share their current status and request any assistance. Each member gets a 2 min slot to use as they wish. Sometimes the Chair will suggest an alternative use of the Round Robin slot.
New members and first time attenders will be invited to a separate Newcomers session during the Round Robin, in order to complete the registration paperwork and receive a more detailed welcome to the club and its services
  5. Meeting close
  6. Open networking until 1pm.

The meeting venue is booked until 1pm and there is up to an hour of free networking time after the formal meeting has finished.

We encourage members to attend as often as possible – even if the speaker is covering a topic they know well. The strength of this club comes from the assistance members can offer fellow members so we encourage active participation by all irrespective of their position: to offer advice, to share their experiences, but also ask for help when they need it.

There is no charge for any of our meetings. We do ask that, as a minimum, in return members let us know when they return to work – a simple e-mail or phone call is all it takes to tell us when and where they are now working. Information about the effectiveness of the club, measured by the number of members who return to work, is key to our ability to secure ongoing funding.

About the volunteers and speakers

Our volunteers are qualified in their field and also invest their own time in management meetings and training to manage the club and improve the services we offer. Many of them have experienced redundancy or career change recently and will have originally attended as Members. Our speakers all have proven experience in their field and are often recommended to us by members.
If you would like to offer your services please speak to any of the Volunteers on the day or email us via the website.
