Our congratulations go to the latest of our members who have reported that they have been successful in finding work.
I just wanted to let you know that I have secured a new opportunity: developing digital propositions at Barclays bank. It's a 3 month contract, and looks to be a very interesting opportunity. I would like to pass on my thanks to the ejc for all the help of the volunteers, the structure that the club provides to job search and, most of all, the solidarity of not having to job search alone. I have found the group to be very helpful in these ways on my journey. Finally I would just like to wish everyone else the best of luck in securing what you're after. The main thing I have learnt during this search and would pass on is this: be doggedly determined, keep hanging in there, follow up and chase down all the opportunities you have in train. Unless you at least 2 choices you have no choice at all (as Richard Bolles famously said). 90 per cent perspiration and 10 per cent inspiration seems to be a maxim that applies here!
Kind regards
Ian Finn
Next meeting - Thursday June 20th
The topic for the next meeting in our programme will be Alternative Selection Methods – Be Prepared! and the session will be led by Pat Hartwell.
Although we focus on the Interview at the Job Club, organisations tend to use additional tools to aid the selection process.
This session will examine the popularity of different techniques and help job seekers to prepare for the different tools they may encounter with particular emphasis on the psychometric tests and what they tell you and what they tell a potential employer.
The session will take place between (9.45am for) 10.00am and 12.30pm at the Maidenhead venue - The Church Hall, St Mary’s Church, St Mary’s Close, 14 High Street, Maidenhead SL6 1YY.
The session will start promptly and members are asked to ensure they arrive by 9.45am to help us start on time.
